Mexico Middle School is proud to serve Mexico’s 6-8th grade students by executing our mission with fidelity daily:




Within our walls you will find first class teams of teachers and students working and learning together.  MMS faculty and staff are dedicated to helping our students grow into successful young adults.  Our vision for all of our students:


Educating, Engaging, & Empowering Students to Become Lifelong Learners

To drive our purpose we have two building goals for the 2016-2017 school year.


Goal 1:  80% of MMS students will meet their individualized reading goal by the end of the 2016-2017 school year.


Goal 2:  84% of MMS students will fall in the first tier of the behavioral triangle, earning zero to one discipline referrals during the 2016-2017 school year.



Teachers, parents, and students are working together to cooperatively achieve both goals this year during class, GROWL, and PAWS.  Students are using PAWS time to develop and monitor individual reading goals cooperatively with teachers.  Goals are worked on during GROWL, PAWS, as well as elective and core classes.

MMS is in their third year of implementing the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) model.  This year’s foci are the continued teaching of the PBIS matrix as well as implementing Tier II interventions for those students receiving 2 or more office refferrals.

Parent Teacher Conferences:

The Spring student led Parent Teacher Conferences are happening now!  Last night was a huge success.  Students did a great job communicating with parents and teachers, leading the way, building relationships and demonstrating how at MMS we are Making Minds Stronger!

Congrats to next year's Student Council officers!  For next year's Freshman class: President Ella Robertson, Vice President Amelia Runge, Secretary Kaleigh Feigenspan, and Treasurer Bradley Dunn. For next year's 8th graders: President Lilly Yeast, Vice President Riley Thurman, Secretary Brett Pascoe and Treasurer Ava Wilson.  Thank you for being the student voice and making great things happen.

Thank you to everyone who came out and supporting the Student Council fundraiser for the Special Olympics at Pizza Hut.  There was a very good turn out for a really great cause!



Thank you to the students who participated in the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast.  It was a great opportunity to give back to our community.


Track Open Gym: Any student interested in training for track or cross country, come on out to the MMS gym Monday through Friday from 3:15 - 4:15.  It's a great way to get your cardio on!  

Track Team Practice will begin on Monday, February 27th.  You MUST have a completed Physical turned in before you can participate.  (Please be sure you have the ENTIRE four pages of the Physical complete).  If you have already turned one in for this school year, you are good to go! 



The Scholastic Book Fair has our students really excited about reading.  We had a great turn out of our students and their families checking out the fair and purchasing interesting titles.  #weloveourreaders!




Attention Eighth grade students and parents, we have some exciting news for you.  There is a promotion preparation document in our document section ready for you.  It has all the facts and information regarding upcoming events such as the 8th grade awards assembly, 8th grade parties, and of course promotion! Please take time to familiarize yourself with this information and if you have additional questions, call our office at 573-581-4664 and we'll be glad to help!


BRIGHT FUTURES: "Bowls for BRIGHTfutures"

Mexico Middle School Art Department, Mexico High School Art Department, and Mexico High School FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) will be hosting a first time event called "Bowls for BRIGHTfutures". The event will take place on March 7, 2017 from 430 to 7 pm in the Mexico High School Cafeteria. Attendees will choose a bowl handmade by MMS & MHS art students, and then eat a meal from the bowl, which is theirs to keep. For a meal, there will be soups handmade by FCCLA students. Everyone is welcome to attend.

There will also be other art items available for raffle. All proceeds benefit BRIGHTfutures Mexico. For more information, contact Alicia Pigg at or Jo Ann Diffenderfer at 



Middle School Handbook:  

Thank you parents and students for taking the time to familiarize yourselves with our Middle School Handbook.  We are really happy to have our students in compliance with dress code and electronic policies.  When students are focused on learning they are more apt to be able to succeed in school.  Your partnership helps us to live our Vision - "Educating, Engaging, & Empowering Students to Become Lifelong Learners."


Students, our school opens at 7:30 am.  Only those students who ride a Mexico School bus or are attending Catch Up Cafe may enter earlier.  If these conditions do not apply to you, then you may not arrive on school grounds before 7:30 am.  

Parents, please have this in your morning plans as we do not have supervision for your children until this time.  Students cannot be standing around outside the building unsupervised.  So make your plans with your family beforehand. 

Students, arrive on time, prepared and ready for to learn.

Online Meal Payments for the Regular School Year:

We are happy to announce that you are now able to make online payments to your student's meal account using Parent Portal.  The steps to do this are as follows:

1. Sign into Parent Portal; (If you do not have a Parent Portal account, please contact your student's school office to set up an account)

2. Select Meals>Online Payment

3. Enter the dollar amount for each child

4. Click Proceed to Verification Step

5. Choose Proceed to PayPal

Note:  You do not need a PayPal account to pay online, however if you open a PayPal account, payment information will not need to be re-entered every time a transaction is made.  Please also note, if you have been paying your student's meal account by using the Online Payments link from the district website, it will no longer be available after the last day of school in May.
