MHS holds annual JAG Initiation & Installation Ceremony
September 30, 2024 – On Friday, September 27, the Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG) Career Association elected officers to lead the local chapter. The following individuals will serve MHS JAG for 2024-2025:
- President of MHS JAG Career Association: Kalvin Smith
- Vice President for Career Development: Kallux Carter
- Vice President of Civic Awareness: Janae Palmer
- Vice President for Social Activities: Layla Musgrove
- Vice President for Leadership Development: Donovin Vaughn
- Vice President for Service Learning: Jayda Mayweather
- Secretary: Alex Dunlap
Mexico High School has just under 40 multi-year JAG participants and 13 at Mexico Education Center.
As part of MHS JAG Career Association, the membership is expected to support the activities of the chapter, attend meetings, and set a positive example in the school, workplace, and community. The newly elected officers will lead the career association in the goals of leadership development, career preparation, civic awareness, social awareness, and service learning.
Superintendent Troy Lentz offered opening remarks for the attendees, asking student Kallux Carter to assist with an inspirational activity reminding students of their value to the school and community. Dr. Lentz also assisted in the pinning of officers alongside Deputy Director of JAG Missouri, Jeff Berry. Berry shared words of encouragement and inspiration in a keynote address.
MHS JAG is instructed by Mr. Oliver Brilhante, certified JAG Specialist. Mr. Brilhante led the afternoon’s events, including a special thank you to the JAG business partners, True Manufacturing, Fluid Power Support, Mexico Parks and Recreation, Spartan Light Metal Products, and Bright Futures of Mexico.
JAG-Missouri is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping students who have great potential, yet face significant barriers. JAG believes students have talent, grit, and a hunger to learn. They want to succeed and have a better life. They want to be productive citizens.
