Winter Weather Reminders
With the impending forecast, here are some reminders about school communications for inclement weather.
SCHOOL CLOSURES. For school closures, staff members, parents, and guardians will get a phone call, text, email, and ParentSquare app notification.
TIMING OF DECISION. Families are encouraged to have a plan in case of school closures. The district will make a decision as soon as it can. We are actively monitoring the weather forecast, talking with other local school districts, and driving the roads.
PARENTSQUARE. ParentSquare is the new “School Reach” system. It is highly recommended that you download the ParentSquare app. However, if you do not have it, you will still receive a call, text, and email.
OTHER COMMUNICATION AVENUES.
-
The district Facebook page at “Mexico Public Schools #59.”
-
Local media outlets, KXEO/KWWR radio, KBIA radio, The Mexico Ledger, KRCG-TV, KOMU-TV, and KMIZ-TV.
HELP. The ParentSquare system has been active since July and also tested for emergencies; however, it is likely we will still find some discrepancies with staff and parent contact information. ParentSquare pulls data directly from Infinite Campus so if you do not receive a message as expected, you can contact your building-level office or email communcations@mexico.k12.mo.us for assistance with Infinite Campus.
Whatever decision is made, it is made based on the best information available and in the best interest of our students and staff. With this in mind, we encourage you to create a plan for your family in case of a school closure.
Thank you for sharing your Bulldogs with us! Stay safe and warm as the winter weather approaches!
