May 14, 2026 – Families and guests filled the Eugene Field gym last night, celebrating student learning and getting a firsthand look at the creativity and innovation as fourth- and fifth-grade students shared their learning during the school’s science fair.
Organized by STEM teacher Ethan Wiley, the event gave students the chance to step into the role of scientists: asking questions, testing ideas, studying results, and sharing what they discovered.
Over the past several weeks, students worked through the scientific process, creating projects that challenged them to think critically, solve problems, and explain their findings with confidence. From hands-on experiments to creative demonstrations, each project showed the hard work, persistence, and curiosity of EF students.
Four volunteer judges spent the evening visiting with students and evaluating projects based on use of the scientific method, creativity, presentation, and overall effort.
Events like the science fair remind us that STEM is about much more than textbooks and experiments. It’s about helping students become curious thinkers and confident problem-solvers who can apply what they’re learning to the world around them.
