MMS celebrates student achievement during 8th grade promotion

May 22, 2026 – Families, staff, and community members gathered Thursday evening to celebrate 113 Mexico Middle School eighth grade students during the school’s annual promotion ceremony as students prepare to transition to Mexico High School.
The evening’s welcome and introductions were led by Principal Kyle Louder and Assistant Principal Jennifer Barnett, who worked together to organize the celebration honoring the Class of 2030 and their accomplishments during their middle school years.
Teacher Sarah Gleeson served as the guest speaker for the evening, reflecting on the many memorable moments shared throughout the school year. In her remarks, Gleeson highlighted academic achievements, activities, athletics, and the many ways Mexico Middle School students gave back to the community throughout the year. She encouraged students to hold onto the memories and relationships they built during their time at MMS while continuing to create positive connections with classmates and teachers as they move forward.
“We will miss you, but you’ll also miss us,” Gleeson smiled with students during her speech. Gleeson reminded students that they are “amazing, talented, and intelligent,” encouraging them to continue discovering their passions and building on the skills and experiences developed during their middle school years.
“Find people who will help you believe in yourself,” she told students as they prepared to take their next steps at Mexico High School.
Members of the Mexico Board of Education and district administration joined the ceremony on stage to congratulate and support each student as they crossed the stage.
The district would also like to thank David Pickering for serving as photographer for the evening.
Families and community members who were unable to attend can watch the full ceremony on the district’s YouTube page:
