Tony Roberston chosen as 2026 Honorary Graduate

May 23, 2026 – The Class of 2026 Honorary Graduate is Tony Robertson. Through his leadership in banking, decades of community service, and deep-rooted commitment to the people of Mexico, Tony has helped shape the strength and spirit of Bulldog country. Tony was honored at the graduation commencement on May 15.
Tony grew up near Grovespring, Missouri, and graduated from Hartville High School in 1988. He attended the University of Missouri, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics in 1992. He began his professional career as a loan officer with the US Department of Agriculture before moving to Mexico in 1994 to join Central Bank, where he has served the community for more than three decades. In 2023, he was named Market President.
Tony’s influence extends far beyond the workplace. He has dedicated countless hours to organizations that strengthen Mexico and Audrain County, serving as past president of the Mexico Jaycees, Mexico Area United Way, Audrain County Historical Society, Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce, and Audrain County Mizzou Alumni. He has also served on numerous boards, including Central Bank, Children’s Therapy & Early Education School, Presser Arts Center, Main Street Mexico, the Mexico Area YMCA, Mexico Rotary Club, Basil & Nina Leach Foundation, and the Mizzou College of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Alumni Board. Through many of these roles, Tony has helped lead fundraising efforts, expansions, renovations, and community initiatives that continue to benefit future generations.
Tony and his late wife, Sara—a longtime speech therapist in our community—raised their three children in Mexico: Caleb, Class of 2017; Ella, Class of 2021; and Nate, Class of 2024. Tony says being named an Honorary Graduate is “a meaningful and emotional honor to join my kids as Mexico Bulldogs.”
Outside of work and service, Tony enjoys traveling, genealogy, studying American history, and spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and skiing.
When asked what advice he would share with today’s graduates, his answer was simple and heartfelt: “Stick with things you enjoy. Be kind and serve others.”
For his professional leadership, his dedication to service, and his lasting investment in the people and future of Mexico, the Bulldog Class of 2026 proudly celebrates Mr. Tony Robertson as this year’s Honorary Graduate.
