HCC Student Spotlight: Jaden Robinson, Senior from Montgomery County R2, Construction Technology

Jaden Robinson works on the job site for construction technology.

Nominated by Mr. Matt Hawkins, Construction Technology Instructor

I recommended Jaden because he has strong problem solving skills. He is quick to jump in and help explain the project to a fellow student. He is currently working for a new home contractor and plans to join the Mid-America Carpenter Union as an apprentice after graduation. Jaden has a bright future in the construction trades!

Career in Focus: Construction Technology

Kyler Swaim measures ground before pouring.
Jaden Robinson and Braden Bock work on site for the construction class.
The construction technology students recently completed a 20 X 30 storage shed project at Eugene Field Elementary School. Students learned all of the aspects of this building project from preparing the site and setting blocks for the foundation to installing the roof.
Landon Oliver works the saw in class.
The Hart Career Center offers a Construction Technology program that informs and enhances students’ understanding of construction and provides them with skills that they will and can use as they leave high school. The students in this program are almost like family, it’s like they’ve known each other their entire lives by the way they interact with each other. Landen Oliver of Mexico high school commented that he is really enjoying the carpenter skills he is learning.
Chase Harrison works in construction class.
Chase Harrison and Ty Meadows are both students at Fulton, both of them explained to me how the class provides the students with skills like “teamwork, problem solving, and cognitive skills.” All of the students explained to me how the skills that you will learn in this class will help you post-graduation and in the workforce.
Preston Harner and Jayden Robinson of Montgomery told me that “students actually get to go on job sites and get connected with unions like the electricians union.” Students can also enter Skills USA for construction. The Construction Technology program at Hart Career Center will prepare all students for the future, no matter the field they choose. So, if you're interested in construction work and want to build your knowledge and skills, then the Construction Technology Program at Hart Career Center is the right program for you.
